The 16th Annual Meeting of the TRACECA Intergovernmental Commission was held on February 10 in Tbilisi, the capital of Georgia

The 16th Annual Meeting of the TRACECA Intergovernmental Commission was held in Tbilisi on 10 February 2023. On the day before the meeting (February 9), another meeting was held at the level of the National Secretaries, and the demands and wishes of the Member Countries were expressed at this meeting.

Among the topics discussed at the meeting on February 9 are the establishment of the TRACECA Business Council, the establishment of the Digitization Working Group, the methodology for assessing road checkpoints on the TRACECA Route and the proposed Ship Concept for cargo transport in the Caspian Sea. In addition, detailed discussions were held regarding the next meeting to take place in the Islamic Republic of Iran.

The National Commission Presidents of the countries (Ministers, Deputy Ministers or authorized senior managers) attended the meeting on February 10, and some concept documents and reports that will facilitate border crossings were accepted at the meeting, and the current Secretary General Asset Assavbayev was elected again as the Secretary General. Among the agenda topics of the meeting were Turkmenistan's participation in TRACECA, Digitalization, and Caspian Crossings.

A Memorandum of Understanding was signed between the TRACECA General Secretariat and TITR, and the TRACECA awards were presented to the National Secretaries of the member countries and some delegates for the first time as certificates and medals.
